To check Google ranking for keywords on a consistent basis is simply staying in touch with your online business. Being able to track the progress of your efforts to achieve higher search engine rankings for your targeted keywords is one of those fundamental efforts of internet marketing.
Unfortunately, most internet marketers do not a) know how to check Google ranking for keywords they are targeting, or b) have the necessary tools to check Google ranking for keywords. Either way, they operate in the dark without any insight into whether their SEO or other online promotion programs are working.
There are many tools available that help you track your progress, and as with all tools, they come in different prices with different sets of functionality. Selecting the one that is right for you is based on how much you want to spend, what functionality you wish to have, if an online or desktop solution is preferred, and others.
We have tried multiple products and have settled on two solutions that we think meet the grade. Totally opposite in a lot of ways, the combination of these two products provide and inside out and outside in view of your progress. Here are the two products we use to check Google ranking for keywords:
- Market Samurai – Simply our favorite internet marketing tool, for many reasons. But in this article we will specifically concentrate on Rank Tracker module which is very simple to use. Just copy the keywords you want to track and run the ranking update as often as you like (on demand) to get an updated view of your current ranking. This tool provides a wealth of information including: ranking position for all three major search engines, identifies which page has ranking position for the keyword, the number of backlinks to the ranking page, and much more. Market Samurai – in our opinion – is the best search engine ranking checker tool available.
- SEMRush – What I like about this product is that it operates almost in reverse of Market Samurai – which you identify the words you want to track. SEMRush does it just the opposite – when you run a query on a website (either your own or one of your competitors(!)) it provides an inside out look at the website and provides a list of the keywords where that URL has organic ranking up to the top 20 places. Most internet marketers understand that a website will rank well for keywords that are not even targeted. That is the value of SEMRush – you can discover new keywords (and how much traffic they generate) from you own website, or from your competitor websites that you need to more aggressively target.
The combination of these two tools will help any internet marketer check Google ranking for keywords and find new ways to promote certain keywords to better build higher search engine rankings.
